Pub pals team up to overcome challenge for Manorlands

A Cullingworth pub head chef and two of his friends completed a notoriously arduous challenge to raise £1,325 for Manorlands.
Philip Bolton, who lives in the village, was accompanied by Pete Beveridge, from Keighley, and David Wilson, from Queensbury, on last month’s ‘Tough Mudder’ at Broughton Hall.
They battled their way through the 24-obstacle military-style assault course in a little under three hours.
Philip, 25, who works at the George Hotel in Station Road, said: “It was really hard – none of us had done any training at all! We got through it with teamwork and we were really pleased to finish.
“Everyone had been saying we wouldn’t manage it because we did no training, but when we’d got to half way, we just wanted to prove them wrong.”
Among the ordeals he and his friends endured on the course were having to jump into a skip full of ice and run 12 miles across hilly country.
Philip added: “I didn’t expect we’d raise that much.”
He added he and his friends have had family members cared for by Manorlands, with the George Hotel collecting money for this good cause on previous occasions.
