Tractors ploughing cash into Manorlands
3:29pm Friday 18th October 2013 in News
A convoy of tractors and Land Rovers took to the roads during the weekend to plough money back into Manorlands hospice.
They set off from Cross Roads Fisheries as part of the latest Bronte Tractor Run.
Organisers said Sunday’s event raised at least £432, with extra cash still being collected. The fundraising convoy has been taking place for the past 13 years.
Organiser, Stanley Turner, said: “Apart from the weather, which was a bit cold, and one or two places where we were held up by roadworks, we had a very good run.
“There were 45 vehicles, mostly tractors and Land Rovers. The people who take part come from all over the area.”
The 24-mile route, which included Bradshaw, St Ives and Main Street in Haworth, finished at the village’s Bronte Hotel, where participants enjoyed a pie and peas meal. There was also a raffle.
Mr Turner offered his thanks to everyone who supported the occasion, including the Bronte Hotel for hosting the meal and Gascoigne’s of Haworth for providing pork pies.
