Keighley councillors want to give away money to community groups
3:10pm Thursday 24th October 2013 in News
Keighley councillors desperately want to give away money to community groups across the town.
They are appealing to local organisations to apply for grants of up to £500 from the Community Chest.
The fund, run by Bradford Council’s Keighley Area Committee, faces an underspend if eligible groups do not bid for cash.
The committee particularly wants to fund new groups, or established groups with innovative ideas to support people in their neighbourhoods.
Committee chairman Councillor Steve Pullen said: “This fund is about community action. We want to give people the tools to help themselves.”
Anyone interested should contact Noreen Akhtar at the Keighley Area Co-ordinator’s office on (01535) 618008.
The closing date is November 21.
