Speeding Oakworth van driver broke ‘clean’ record
12:20pm Thursday 24th October 2013 in News
A van driver from Oakworth caught speeding on the A629 Skipton bypass broke his 36-year clean driving record, magistrates heard.
Andrew Chatburn, who admitted speeding by letter to the Skipton court on Friday, said he had been driving without any convictions since 1977.
Chatburn, of Goose Cote Lane, had been caught doing 77mph in a Ford Transit van – which is limited to 50mph on the normally 60mph road.
Magistrates endorsed his licence with six penalty points and fined him £350, ordering him to also pay costs of £85.
