Keighley nursing home stages international day
12:30pm Friday 25th October 2013 in News
A Keighley nursing home staged an international day to celebrate the diversity of its staff and residents.
Family members of residents at Norwood House in Greenthwaite Close were invited to visit in national dress. They also brought in some of the distinctive cuisine of their countries of origin.
They enjoyed singing national anthems, music, dancing and a raffle, generating £48 for the home’s residents’ fund.
Norwood House director Baldev Chaggar said: “The event was a huge success, and residents enjoyed snippets of different cultures. Everyone had a good time.
“We decided to hold the international day as we have staff from different countries, and thought it would be a good way to celebrate their different cultures.”
The home’s employees include people from South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India.
