MEP sees telehealth service at first hand at Airedale Hospital
2:10pm Friday 25th October 2013 in News
MEP Rebecca Taylor visited Airedale Hospital to see its telemedicine services in action.
She met nursing staff in the telehealth hub from where 24-hour, seven-day-a-week support is offered to patients in their own homes via a video link.
“The potential of telehealth to revolutionise healthcare delivery has been talked about for some years – in particular in relation to supporting the health of an ageing population – but not always put into action,” said Ms Taylor.
“It was great to see how Airedale is successfully using telehealth technology to personalise and streamline patient care.”
Airedale NHS Foundation Trust chief executive, Bridget Fletcher, said: “We were delighted to have the opportunity to show Rebecca our work, particularly as someone with a professional background in health and ageing policy, and demonstrate how telemedicine is helping improve the health-care experience of our ageing population.”
