A group of 31 Keighley students were taken to Manchester to find out how some of the nation’s best competitive cyclists are coached and assessed.
The youngsters are all studying a range of sports courses at Keighley Campus Leeds City College.
They travelled with tutors Andrew Gudgeon and Rob Harrison to the National Cycling Centre in Manchester on Monday. The facility includes a velodrome and BMX track, and is used for training by top cyclists from Team GB.
Students were able to meet the talented young BMX rider, Tre Whyte, as well as watch members of Team GB training.
A Leeds City College spokesman said: “The campus has made this trip every year for the past few years.
“It is a fantastic, unique experience for the students, particularly as it gives them the opportunity to look at elite training methods, analysis of performance and sports coaching.
“As part of the visit, the students had one hour’s worth of coaching in the velodrome and an hour of coaching in the BMX arena.”
