Cougars have not managed to reach the 300 early-bird season-ticket mark which would have triggered a £3,500 donation to their Squadbuilder fund.
A fan, who wishes to remain anonymous, had pledged to put the four-figure sum towards Paul March’s player budget for next season if the targeted number of fans signed up for discounted tickets before the end of last month.
Chairman Gary Fawcett said the exact figure of how many have been sold was not yet available but estimated it was between 150 and 200.
He added that he is still hoping to pursuade the supporter in question to make his donation, though said the early-bird deal would not be extended.
“We might do another kind of promotion but I need to look at the final figures first,” said Fawcett.
Meanwhile, James Feather’s testimonial game has been arranged for Sunday, December 15 at Cougar Park (2pm).
It will see Cougars take on a Buster’s All Stars team, featuring past players from the club, with tickets costing £10 adults, £5 concessions, children 16 and under free.
All proceeds will go towards the popular hooker’s testimonial season.
Cougars have also arranged their first pre-season friendly, which will take place against Halifax at The Shay on Sunday, January 12 (3pm).
