People will have to wait a few months before finding out how a local teenager has done in a televised US horsemanship show.
Western riding enthusiast Joe Midgley, from Denholme, saw off competition from hundreds of other hopefuls to land a role in master horseman Chris Cox’s The Horsemanship Showdown.
The 19-year-old returned from Texas on Monday, and said the contest will be screened in the first week of February. It will be shown on satellite and cable channel RFD TV and also on Horse & Country TV.
Former Parkside School pupil Joe is not allowed to reveal anything about the results, but said taking part had been a “brilliant” experience.
“I loved it – I loved the people, the food the scenery; I can’t knock any of it,” he said. “It was tough, but well worth it.”
