A Haworth community project to turn disused plots of land into sources of sustainable food is eyeing up potentially suitable new sites in the village.
Parish councillor Ashna Yates updated colleagues on progress with the Haw-Earth project at Monday’s meeting.
She said: “We’ve got some funding from Bradford Council and we’re looking at land around Gas Street Car Park.
“Some of this property is owned by Yorkshire Water and some by Bradford Council. We’re also interested in the land surrounding the Weaver’s Hill Car Park.”
Coun Yates set up the initiative in September to make use of neglected and unsightly land in Haworth. The project is also designed to use growing to bring together people from different generations, as well as benefit people who aren’t prepared to take on a full allotment plot.
