A service offering homemade birthday joy to youngsters from needy local families has welcomed seven more volunteers after being featured in the Keighley News.
Free Cakes For Kids Keighley was set up by mother-of-three Rachel Eydmann.
She was inspired to begin a Keighley and Ilkley branch of this birthday cake-making service after finding out about its success elsewhere in the UK.
“I’ve had seven more volunteers come forward through people reading the article, so I’m really happy about that,” she said. “There are now 11 of us, which is definitely enough to get started.”
Miss Eydmann and her colleagues will be baking birthday cakes for families who are unable to provide a one for their child. Volunteers are working with organisations such as schools, food banks, children’s centres and the Salvation Army to have eligible youngsters referred to them.
Their service is free and confidential. E-mail freecakes-keighley@gmail.com for further information.
