Keighley MP Kris Hopkins welcomes Chancellor's autumn statement

Keighley MP Kris Hopkins has welcomed measures in the Chancellor’s autumn statement which he says will have far-reaching benefits for businesses, individuals and families.

Mr Hopkins said reducing the burden of business rates would help firms grow more quickly and create new jobs, as would a decision to scrap employers’ National Insurance contributions for people under 21.

He added: “Confirmation that fuel duty will be frozen until 2015 is also very good news for businesses and households alike, and is the responsible approach to take as the economy continues to grow.

“State pensions are to go up, energy bills are to go down, a married couples’ tax allowance is being introduced and free school meals will be provided for all state-funded pupils in reception and years one and two. Disadvantaged students in sixth form colleges will also benefit from next September.”
