Police have caught two children who spread dog muck on a Long Lee playground.

Keighley Neighbourhood Polic-ing Team said it had “positively dealt with” the youths, aged ten and 13. Officers have pledged to monitor the future behaviour of the pair as part of the anti-social behaviour system.

The police action was welcomed by Keighley Area Committee chairman and ward councillor, Steve Pullen, who had been horrified to hear about the vandalism.

He said: “It’s good the police have got someone so soon – it’s a shame it’s someone so young.

“I hope they have learned their lesson and don’t do it again.”

The Keighley News last week revealed how Keighley mother, Anne Huntley, had discovered the mess while walking through the play area with her children, Hannah, ten, and Callum, six.

She found the site littered with waste bags, and dog dirt daubed on swings and slides.

Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team revealed members of the public had reported the two youngsters as being “responsible”.

A spokesman said: “Both youths been positively dealt with by Keighley Neighbourhood Policing officers. They have been put into the anti-social behaviour system, and their behaviour will be monitored by officers.”
