A Keighley pub landlord isn’t pulling your frogs’ leg when he talks about his new menu!

Mickey Thompson is inviting customers to try a taste of France’s great culinary delicacy.

And he’s been surprised with how many of his regulars have taken up the invitation.

They’re getting in quite a pickle, challenging each other to pull a frogs’ leg from the jar and eat it.

Mickey is selling the French food as part of his campaign to bring continental culture to Keighley in advance of next summer’s Grand Depart. The famous race will pass his Great Northern pub at Ingrow on its way up Halifax Road towards Haworth.

Mickey said he had bought two batches of frozen frogs’ legs to find out how they would go down with customers.

The first batch of ten pairs were put on the bar in a large pickle jar.

He said: “The chef braised them and we put them in the jar to ferment, but people keep buying them!

“I’ve had frogs’ legs in a restaurant cooked properly in cream sauce, but the pickled ones aren’t good – I wouldn’t eat them!

“Those lads are really brave. They have been egging each other on.”

Mickey has a second batch of frogs’ legs in his freezer, ready to be served up to customers in a curry in a few weeks’ time!
