Sainsbury’s in Keighley is now acting as an extra collection point for our Christmas Toy Appeal.

Unwrapped gifts can be taken to the Cavendish Street store and to the town’s Salvation Army centre.

The Keighley News has joined forces with the High Street church to collect toys for children who otherwise face a bleak Christmas without any presents.

The appeal aims to help about 350 youngsters, referred to the charity from agencies, family centres and health visitors.

And Chris Bown, development manager at Keighley Salvation Army, is urging people to rally round in the final fortnight of the initiative.

“We are getting things brought in every day, and we are grateful to everyone who has donated,” she said.

Donated toys must be new and should be suitable for children and young people – boys and girls – up to the age of 16. Call 01535 603494.
