Cononley Singers' busy run-up to Christmas

Cononley Singers have a busy run-up to Christmas.

They will take part in the first-ever carol service staged by the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund at Leeds Cathedral at 2.30pm on Sunday.

Choir member, Lois Brown, was one of the leaders in the successful campaign to save the children’s heart unit at Leeds General Infirmary, which has treated her six-year-old daughter, Amelie, since she was a baby.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3.50 concessions (free for under-twos). E-mail or call 0113 3923987.

Cononley Singers have also been invited to take part in the Co-operative Funeral Directors’ carol service at Bradford Cathedral on Tuesday.

Just three days later, the choir is back in action with the first of two festive concerts, called Come On, It’s Christmas.

It will take place at Cononley Village Institute on December 13, repeated at Christ Church in Skipton the following evening. Both performances start at 7.30pm, and tickets are available from Cononley Post Office and, for the Skipton event, at the town’s Home and Kitchen shop.

The Singers will also take part in a carol service at St John’s in Cononley on December 15, and their final engagement will be to sing carols outside the village’s New Inn at 7.30pm on December 18, followed by mulled wine and mince pies.
