South Craven MP Julian Smith is urging people to support the inaugural Small Business Saturday.
A day of activities is being staged nationally this weekend, encouraging shoppers to use small retailers and other businesses in their communities.
Mr Smith, the Prime Minister’s small business ambassador for Yorkshire, said: “Such businesses are the lifeblood of our local economy, and I want to do all I can to support them and those budding entrepreneurs who want to start or grow a company.
“The work these firms do will be showcased on Saturday. It will be a great opportunity to see the fantastic work of our small businesses and create new opportunities for growth.”
Mr Smith has written an open letter to small businesses in his constituency, thanking them for their work and pledging to do all he can to support them.
