Children from a Keighley dance school have again raised hundreds of pounds for the paediatric unit at Airedale Hospital.

The Irene Ogden School of Dancing gave a display for parents and relations at Holy Family School during the summer.

As well as dozens of children, aged from two-and-a-half, there were also adult dancers aged up to 80.

Some of the children recently presented a cheque for £700 to Dr Kate Ward MBE, from the paediatric unit.

Katharine Hickman, who runs the dance school, said: “Over the years, we have raised thousands of pounds for the unit doing similar displays.”

The Irene Ogden School of Dancing, based in central Keighley, was set up about 80 years ago.

Irene’s pupil, Elsie Scott, took over the school in the 1960s, and when she retired in 2009 Elsie’s long-time assistant, Katharine, took charge.

The school began raising money for Airedale more than two decades ago, after the grandson of Elsie Scott was treated at the hospital.
