A Skipton couple have raised more than £1,000 for Airedale Hospital’s special care baby unit.
Alison and David Campbell, of Burnside Crescent, held coffee mornings and raffles in their respective workplaces as a way to thank staff for the care they gave their baby son, Jack, after he was born two months prematurely.
“I developed pre-eclampsia and I had to deliver Jack two months early,” said Alison, 30. “He weighed only three pounds and three ounces, and went on special care straight away.
“Jack wasn’t particularly poorly, he was just very small. It was quite an horrific experience for us to go through, but the hospital made it as nice as possible.”
As a thank you, Alison, who works at Sutton Primary School, and David, 30, who works at HML in Skipton, held fundraisers to help the unit pay for things such as a new dryer and redecorating.
