A Keighley restaurant is backing Airedale Hospital’s maternity appeal.

Rolands in Utley will raise funds during the next year in support of the hospital labour ward.

The restaurant will display posters and information and stage events, and money from lunch hampers sold to hospital staff, members and governors will be ploughed into the fund.

Rolands also donated £100 in meal vouchers as a raffle prize for a maternity ball held on Saturday.

Restaurant owner, Roland Embleton, said: “Our decision to support Airedale Hospital’s maternity appeal was an extremely easy one to make.

“The maternity care provided at Airedale is great, and we are pleased to be able to support them in this way. We believe strongly in caring about, and for, the future generation.”

The maternity appeal, officially launched in March, aims to raise £6,000 to furnish and equip both the new midwifery-led unit and bereavement facilities.

Claire Matthews, head of midwifery at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: “It’s great to have a local restaurant supporting our appeal. We are hugely grateful for its backing, and look forward to working with it during the next year.”
