A Keighley mum’s experience of treatment for cancer inspired her to make a radical career change.

Fell Lane resident, Michelle Hodgson, has gone from having a successful 12-year career in conveyancing to being on the brink of opening her own beauty and holistic treatment room.

She has recovered from her illness, but explained the therapies she received while she still had cancer gave her the idea of learning these treatment techniques herself.

Mrs Hodgson, 34, who has a four-year-old daughter, has completed a diploma in holistic massage, anatomy and physiology. Her new enterprise – The Perfect Touch – has opened inside Rafters Hair and Beauty Salon in Fell Lane.

“I’m so excited,” she said. “I’ll get a lot of satisfaction from being able to give something back and help other people. I can’t imagine having to work sitting behind a desk now!”

Her experience has also encouraged her to raise cash for health charities by running in the Race For Life and the Keighley Big 10K.
