Haworth’s Groovy Happening collective has announced it has now raised £5,000 for Manorlands this year.

Its members presented a cheque to hospice fundraiser Matthew Binns earlier this month.

Groovy Happening spokesman, Ann Wiles, said the £5,000 for this year built on an already impressive total of £3,500 raised for Manorlands in 2012.

She stressed the credit should go to everyone involved with making the collective’s monthly live music events so successful.

“I’d like to thank the musicians who give their time and performances freely, and Parkside Social Club, which does not charge for the venue when we’re fundraising for Manorlands,” she said.

Ann also singled out the Exchange Arts Centre for hosting two Groovy Happening ‘On Tour’ events this year.

A full 12-month calendar of events is being planned for next year, and Ann added she and her colleagues are always looking for performers. Anyone interested can go along to a Groovy Happening even,t or contact its members via the group’s Facebook page.
