Police are carrying out spot checks to see if drivers are over the drink limit or impaired by drugs.
Operation Ovaldale is being run by the Western Area Roads Policing Unit, which covers the Bradford district – including Keighley – and Calderdale.
PC Andrew Gudgeon said: “Motorists must realise their actions could lead to them being disqualified and in the worst circumstances someone's death.
“Use a designated driver or taxi if you are going to drink.”
Last month another project, Operation Orewood, stopped 1,652 drivers across West Yorkshire.
Arrests in Bradford district and Calderdale included 208 for not wearing a seatbelt, 135 for speeding, 62 for using a hand-held mobile phone and 19 for drink- driving.
