Youngsters in Keighley were treated to Christmas buns this week courtesy of a service set up to offer birthday joy to needy local families.
Fourteen children at Strong Close Children’s Centre enjoyed the cakes served up by volunteers from the group Free Cakes for Kids Keighley.
The group was set up by mother-of-three Rachel Eydmann.
She and her colleagues aim to bake cakes for families in the Keighley and Ilkley areas who are unable to provide a birthday cake for their child.
Miss Eydmann said Monday’s bun-making for the youngsters at Strong Close was part of the service’s work to boost its local profile and let parents and carers know what it can do.
“Myself and three volunteers baked Christmas buns,” she said. “The kids loved it. Two of the mums who were there asked about volunteering, so that was also great.”
