A former tenant of the Keighley Town Council-run civic centre has pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a councillor.
However, Grant Doyle, who appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, pleaded not guilty to assaulting town councillor Graham Mitchell.
Doyle, of Airedale View in Cross Hills, is now due to face trial in the magistrates’ court on March 7, when he will also be sentenced for the offence he admitted to.
Both the assault by beating charge and the charge of using threatening or abusive language relate to an incident involving Doyle and Coun Mitchell in North Street, Keighley, on September 19.
Coun Mitchell represents Oakworth ward on the council, and is chairman of the watch and transport committee.
Doyle, who works as a property agent, previously had his business based in part of the Keighley Civic Centre, in North Street.
