A youngster helping restore an historic engine, which once powered a Bradley mill, met civic dignitaries when they visited the museum which now houses the machine.

Josh Ashworth, eight, presented a bouquet to the mayoress of Pendle, Mrs Margaret Ingham.

He has been working on rebuilding the engine for two years with his dad, Ian, of PR Autos in Cross Hills.

The 1901 steam machine was moved from Peter Green’s Cross Lane Mill, in Bradley, to the Bancroft Mill Engine Museum at Barnoldswick about a decade ago.

Mrs Ingham and Pendle mayor Smith Benson were visiting the museum for a festive event to mark the end of the steaming season.
