Keighley hockey club wins grassroots funding

Keighley-based Airedale Hockey Club has received £500 from the Skipton Building Society’s Grassroots Giving initiative.

The club was among shortlisted applicants selected through a public online vote.

David Cutter, for the building society, said: “We thoroughly enjoyed running this programme, which brought out of the woodwork so many hard-working local community groups, which we would never otherwise have known of.

“It is these kinds of groups that make communities and neighbourhoods stronger, especially in difficult economic times.”

Airedale Hockey Club said the award would enable it to fund coaching courses.

A spokesman added: “We have a number of volunteers keen to complete a coaching course to contribute to providing sporting opportunities for local children. It’s great news we can now do this.”
