Cullingworth residents have taken on the management of the village beauty spot known as The Dell.
Cullingworth Village Council this month formally handed over responsibility to the Friends of the Dell.
The group was formed earlier this year with support from Bradford Council – which owns the wood off Greenside Lane – and the village council, which has provided kick-start money.
The Friends will look after the wood’s upkeep, organise activities and apply for money for future improvements.
Village council chairman, Councillor Jacqui Guy, said: “We have a group of people who are very enthusiastic about looking after The Dell.
“It was felt it would be more appropriate for a community group to take responsibility. There have been brilliant partnerships with other organisations.”
