A Keighley butchers has acquired a taste for winning awards.

And its latest success was with a tastebud-tingling pork and sweet chilli pie.

The delicacy was produced by Lunds – in Oakworth Road – specially for the Great Northern Pork Pie Competition at Skipton Auction Mart, where it took first prize in the speciality section.

“We were delighted to win,” said business owner, Craig Bradley.

“The pie has gone down well with our customers, and we’ll be producing it all the time now.

“We like to try different things – we also do pork and apple pies and pork, cheese and pickle, which is very popular.

“We’ve won a few awards from various competitions over the years. It’s always nice to win.”

Lunds also got a third prize in the traditional pork pie category.

The competition was held alongside the mart’s Christmas primestock shows.

The event also included a fruit cake class, in which a creation by Lothersdale’s Margaret Booth was runner-up and Judith Throup, of Silsden, third.

Produce was auctioned off and more than £3,000 raised for Manorlands.
