Shear delight at sheep show funds success

A seventh annual charity sheep show and sale was shear delight for Manorlands!

The event, at Skipton Auction Mart, raised £4,500 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

And with additional items donated for auction, the final total is expected to top £5,000.

Since the show – organised by Addingham & District Sheep Breeders’ Association – was first held, nearly £30,000 has been raised.

Among those who attended the latest event was Hayley Ibbotson, a fundraiser at the hospice. She said: “It was a privilege to be invited to this year’s sale.

“To see so many people there who continue to support the event really is testament to the kind generosity of the local farming community.

“I'd like to thank everyone who contributed to making the day such a success, particularly main sponsor Chris Pearson, Addingham Sheep Breeders for organising the event, everyone who donated and bought the lambs and Craven Cattle Marts for waiving its commission from the sale.”

Hayley added: “We are delighted to receive such a generous amount, which will enable us to continue to provide incredible care to our patients and their families in the community.”

The show champion alone raised £830, after it was bought and sold four times.

In total, 30 lambs were donated by association members and local farmers.
