Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer will be getting in some last-minute training for pulling Santa’s sleigh on the moors above Haworth on Sunday.
Lothersdale resident, David Halliday, will wear the popular Christmas character’s costume while competing in the Stoop Fell Race in aid of Manorlands.
Mr Halliday, 43, a co-owner of Oxenhope-based Bridgehouse Brewery, is a member of the Barnoldswick Fell Runners group. He first donned the festive onesie to promote the brewery’s Rudolph’s Ruin ale, with 5p from the sale of each pint being donated to the hospice.
It will be the first time he has taken on this particular Penistone Hill route, though he is an experienced fell runner.
“It’s quite a short route – a bit of fun really – and most people do it in fancy dress,” he said. “I just want to raise as much money as I can.”
People can go online to the Rudolph’s Ruin page at virginmoneygiving.com to support his fundraising efforts.
