Two Keighley-district youngsters have a yen for international Scouting.

The duo – Jordan Pullen and Hannah Savage – have been selected to take part in the World Scout Jamboree in Japan in 2015.

They are among 36 young people from across West Yorkshire who will make the trip.

Jordan, 13, a Scout with the Cross Roads troop, said: “Attending the jamboree is an amazing opportunity.

“I can’t wait to meet Scouts and Guides from all around the world, learning about their cultures and beliefs and hearing about their lifestyles.”

Hannah, also 13, a member of the Oakworth group, said it would be the adventure of a lifetime.

“I am really looking forward to it,” she added. “I feel really proud and honoured to not only be representing West Yorkshire but also the United Kingdom in Japan.”

Each youngster has to raise £3,400 to fund their trip, and are keen to hear from businesses able to offer support.

The World Scout Jamboree is staged every four years at different locations across the globe, and places are highly prized.

During the Japanese event – between July 28 and August 8, 2015, in Kirara-hama – the Scouts will stay with host families, attend the jamboree camp itself and see some of the sights of the country.

Anyone wishing to offer support can contact the youngsters through their parents, Mark Pullen on 07774 400404 or Robina Wedge on 07779 182457.
