Ex-marine Andrew Burden is Silsden’s Firefighter of the Year.
He won the accolade following a vote among the retained station’s 12-strong crew.
The award was presented during a special event held in Silsden’s Sunnybank Social Club on Friday.
Mr Burden, 44, whose full-time job is chimney sweep and stove installer, has been a firefighter at Silsden for nearly four years.
“I was surprised when it was announced I’d won – I’m no different to any of the other lads – but I am delighted and proud,” he said.
“I’ve organised a lot of charity and community work this last year, so I guess that’s why my name was put forward.”
Silsden’s station commander, Pete Hanson, said the award recognised outstanding commitment and hard work.
“It was started in 1961 and has just been resurrected after a ten-year gap,” he added. “Andrew is a very deserving winner.”
The awards evening also included a presentation to Dave Cockshott, who has retired after 22 years as a firefighter. Mr Cockshott, 51, who is a builder, received a statuette and certificate.
More than 100 people attended the event, which raised more than £200 for The Fire Fighters Charity.
