A Haworth children’s centre at risk of losing its funding will be the subject of a public meeting in the village next week.

Treetops in Rawdon Road is among seven children’s centres across Bradford district that face having funding withdrawn in a move to save Bradford Council £2.4 million.

Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council is encouraging people to attend a meeting on Tuesday to discuss what can be done to retain services.

The event will be attended by Anne Manns, Bradford Council’s lead officer for early years.

Parish council chairman Councillor John Huxley said: “We, at the parish council, have been very impressed with what Treetops has achieved in the short time since it opened, and we want to try and keep as much of this service as possible.

“We want to see what Bradford is proposing and what we, as a community, can do to keep that centre open. The support it has been giving people, such as single parents, has been wonderful.”

The public meeting will take place from 2pm to 3.30pm in the front room at West Lane Baptist Church in Haworth.
