Lantern parades could be held in several Keighley parks at the end of this year.

Organisers of a successful parade in Lund Park last month hope to expand across the town.

They hope residents living near each park will prepare their own events before coming together at Cliffe Castle for a bumper parade.

The idea has been revealed by Jo Horrox, a community development worker with Keighley and Ilkley Voluntary and Community Action (KIVCA) and a member of Lund Park Community Group.

KIVCA and the community group organised the Lund Park lantern parade with Keighley arts group Small World.

Jo said the event was about bringing together people living on different sides of Lund Park, lifting their spirits and getting them into the park at a time it would not normally be used.

Jo said there were firm plans to repeat the Lund Park event this year, but she also hoped to involve people living around Devonshire Park and Cliffe Castle Park.

She added: “We would have to get some funding because it would be a big project.”
