This year’s Christmas Bronte Tractor Run was a huge success.

More than 50 vehicles took part in Sunday’s event, which raised £1,555 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“It was a great turnout and the weather was kind to us,” said Stanley Turner, for the organisers.

“We had a really good day.”

The convoy of vehicles – which included Land Rovers and classic cars, as well as tractors – set off from Colin Appleyard Cars in Keighley, and covered a route of about 24 miles.

Participants stopped off at the Grouse Inn, Oakworth, for coffee and mince pies, and finished at the Bronte Hotel in Haworth, where there was a soup and bread roll lunch and raffle.

The event included a collection in Main Street, Haworth.

Mr Turner added: “Several local businesses generously support the tractor run, and we would like to say a big thank you to them all. We greatly appreciate their sponsorship.”

Transport of a miniature variety was also in action on Sunday when Keighley Model Railway Club staged its Christmas open day.

Several hundred people attended the event at the club rooms in Keighley Business Centre, South Street.

“We were really pleased with how it went,” said Mick McNamara, for the club.

“It’s that time of year when people are looking for something to do post-Christmas. All the club layouts were in operation, and people brought along their own trains to run.”

The club’s junior section, which is starting to build its own layout, was also represented. Catering was provided by Denholme Scouts.

The club’s next event is the annual exhibition at Victoria Hall in Keighley on March 15 and 16.
