A new activity group for girls will run on Wednesdays, after school, at a Keighley community centre.

The Youth Engagement Project will be held at Central Hall in Alice Street, from 3.30pm to 8.30pm.

The club will be launched on Wednesday, with two hours of food, music and other activities for those aged 13 to 19.

Those attending will be able to tell leaders what kind of activities they would like to do in future.

The project, which is funded through Community First, is organised by Keighley and Ilkley Voluntary Committee Action and Bradford Council Youth Service.

Jo Horrox, one of the organisers, said the project will be supported and led by young people from Keighley Youth Co-op.

She added students from Holy Family School had already been asked for ideas for activities.

Jo said: “Eight young people have expressed an interest in crafts, baking, cooking and eating, dance, budgeting and sports.”
