South Craven community groups could make a plea for funding in a Dragons’ Den-style event.

Organisations can apply for up to £500 each to help pay for projects which will benefit young people and improve the community.

Successful applicants will then pitch their ideas to a panel of “Dragons”, at the Craven Council offices in Skipton, on March 17.

The council is running the event following the success of a similar venture last year.

Coun John Roberts, who will be on the panel, said: “Anyone can apply to the Dragons, as long as the project idea is of benefit to young people.

“Last year some really excellent projects received funding, for extremely innovative schemes, which gave young people in Craven lots more activities to get involved in.”

Visit cravendc.gov.uk/dragonsden2014 for further information and to apply. Application forms are also available from libraries and the council offices.

The closing date is February 21.
