A professional artist based in Haworth is using her creative talents to celebrate the Tour de France.

Judy Sale, of Butt Lane, who has lived in the village since 2009, is working on a series of abstract paintings with a cycling motif, which she plans to exhibit locally once they are complete.

“I think the paintings are coming along very well,” she said. “I expect there will be eight to ten once I’ve finished, all inspired by the Tour.

“It’s such a major event, and I think any artist would want to be involved in this.

“I’ve been a cyclist myself in the past, though I haven’t seen the Tour de France before. To have this event in Yorkshire is fantastic, and for it to be going up Main Street in Haworth is phenomenal.”

Ms Sale was born in the US state of Illinois, and has since lived in eight countries. Before moving to Haworth, she lived in Italy and her work has been exhibited across the UK, as well as in other countries.
