Bruce of The Jam is Silsden festival’s star
11:50am Saturday 25th January 2014 in News
A former member of 1980s band The Jam will headline a major music festival in Silsden this summer.
Mod hero Bruce Foxton will perform as part of the Summer Jam, running over the August bank holiday weekend.
Bass player Foxton and his band, From The Jam, will be joined by local groups, including the Big Bang, Ska Face and the Escapades.
Summer Jam, to be held from August 22 to 24, has grown out of the success of Silsden music festivals in the past two years.
The Diamond Do was held in Silsden Park in 2011 and last summer’s Silsdenbury Fest attracted 1,500 people.
Andrew Conway and John Beaumont organised both festivals, and are also behind the Summer Jam through their recently formed promotions company Dirtyboy Inc.
The latest event will be on Riverside Fields, off Keighley Road, which is also being used as a camp site during the Tour de France weekend.
Organisers predict the Summer Jam will be one of the biggest events ever held in Silsden. There will be an eclectic mix of music, including rock, punk, folk, funk, ska and soul, along with camping, stalls and family activities.
There will be three marquees of entertainment, kicking off on the Friday evening with a funk ’n’ soul party night with well-known DJs.
Mr Conway said he and Mr Beaumont had got a buzz from organising Silsdenbury Fest and the Diamond Do.
He added: “We wanted to take the whole idea forward and create something really amazing that local people and music lovers can enjoy.
“We’re passionate about bringing live music to the area and want to give young musicians a leg-up.
“We’re including an exciting mix of big names and established acts with up-and-coming local talent.”
Mr Taylor hopes many people will camp for the whole weekend to create a “lovely, vibrant, summery festival” atmosphere.
The full line-up and running order has yet to be announced.
Updates will appear on the festival website dirtyboyinc.com and tickets can be booked by calling 07581 498817.
