Five causes are in the running to be a shopping centre’s charity of the year.

And the public is being invited to vote – through Keighley Airedale Centre’s Facebook page – for its favourite.

The winner will receive help with raising awareness and funds throughout 2014.

Shortlisted charities are Cancer Support Bradford & Airedale, the Keighley & District branch of the National Autistic Society, the Little Heroes children’s cancer charity, Manorlands hospice and Wildlife Rescue Sanctuaries.

Shopping centre manager, Steve Seymour, said: “We have again turned to the Keighley community to help us decide on our annual charity, not least because of how supportive people are towards our fundraising at the centre, and we value our shoppers’ input.

“A link-up with the Airedale Shopping Centre has great potential for the chosen charity. We will work with them to ensure they can get as much as possible out of the partnership, whether we are raising money or giving them space within the centre to raise awareness of their worthwhile work.”

Last year’s chosen charity – Yorkshire Cat Rescue – benefited by more than £4,500, plus more than 1,000 food items were donated at a collection point in the centre.

Visit airedaleshoppingcentre.co.uk to vote. The deadline is Wednesday.
