A Denholme relief charity is holding a concert to pay tribute to one of its volunteers who died last September.
Connor Paul Smith, who lived in the village, had been a helper in the Mpika charity shop for several years.
Despite living with Asperger’s syndrome, he worked tirelessly to help the charity raise money for its relief work in Africa.
The charity decided to organise a concert to raise awareness of Asperger’s and SACAR, a Bradford group that supports people with the condition.
Local bands Milestone, Play For Ale and Top Whack will perform during the February 22 Denholme Conservative Club gig.
Mpika spokesman, June Martin, said Connor was a very bright former teacher and had been a member of Top Whack.
She added: “Connor was a much-loved member of our staff. We were all very fond of him. We wanted to give him a proper send-off.
“Top Whack approached me and said they’d like to do something. They’re playing some of the songs Connor wrote himself.”
Entry to the 6.30pm concert will be by donation, with a suggested amount of £5. Proceeds will go to Mpika.
