Keighley schoolchildren are hoping for a ‘beret good time’ on their trip to the continent! They’ll certainly know their onions when they return from the week of education and fun in France.

The 28 Our Lady of Victories Primary School pupils will visit Paris, Disneyland Paris and the First World War trenches.

While in the capital, they will visit Notre Dame des Victories, the church after which the school is named.

Headteacher John Devlin said the school’s oldest class went on a foreign trip every year, usually to France.

He added: “It’s largely subsidised by the school because we want everyone to go. It’s very important to us because it’s part of our aim to raise aspirations.”

Mr Devlin said the visit to the former trenches would have an added importance this year as 2014 is the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.
