Two district photographers have ‘saved’ a year of their lives... by taking a picture every day.

Christina Helliwell and Neil Bland each uploaded photographs to Blipfoto for 365 consecutive days.

They post a daily journal with comments alongside their pictures on the Bafta Award-winning photo-blogging website.

Neil Bland, 62, a retired joiner who lives in Silsden with his wife Ann, has been building up a picture chronicle of the world around him.

He said: “What I like is that others can look at my pictures and I can look at other people’s photos too.

“I take my camera with me wherever I go, and try to take a few photos to choose from that day.”

Neil and Ann have been members of Silsden Camera Club for the past four years.

Among the photographs Mr Bland has posted on his daily blog are views of the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and a morning sunrise over Silsden.

Several of Christina Helliwell’s photographs also show the heritage railway in all its glory, together with scenes of Keighley town centre.

She has not missed a day since signing up to Blipfoto, and said her photography skills had improved immeasurably.

She and her husband, who live in Keighley, are both retired after working for many years at Peter Black in town.

Christina said: “We enjoy getting out and about as much as possible, which means I can always find opportunities and subjects to photograph.”
