Caring staff at a Keighley motor dealership are moving up a gear in their charity fundraising.

Colin Appleyard Ltd has pledged to coin in £12,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The firm has already raised more than £7,000 during the past year, with activities including a sponsored 24-hour ‘commute-a-thon’ on a 125cc scooter, street collections and raffles, and by taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning with Nuffield Health Shipley.

Hayley Cooke, fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “The continued support from Colin Appleyard during 2014 will be invaluable to us, and we’re really excited to be working with all their dealerships.

“Every day 29 people in West Yorkshire are told the devastating news they have cancer, and every penny Colin Appleyard raises will help us reach out to more people.”

Events planned by the company this year include a sponsored cycle ride, a promotional weekend and runs.

Appleyard’s marketing manager, Karen Halifax, said: “No one should have to face cancer alone, which is why we want to raise as much money as possible so Macmillan can continue to meet the needs of people affected by cancer.”
