I was very sad to receive the news Brian Hudson had died – ‘Tributes to councillor’ (Keighley News, January 30).
For more than 30 years, I was a member of Keighley Gala committee, and for many of those years Brian was chairman.
He always had a deep loyalty to Keighley and the gala. In later years, he often said if he was the last supporter of the gala, he would ‘run it single-handed’.
Always a worker for the town, many will remember the fight to save Victoria Park when the bypass was promoted, and later he was one of the original campaigners for Keighley to have its own town council.
I feel all this effort for the town should be acknowledged, perhaps with a plaque in Town Hall Square or a memorial tree in Victoria Park. Brian was unique in his staunchly held views, and his name should be honoured and remembered.
