I was surprised to read in last week’s edition of the Keighley News that Bradford Council will, if necessary, carry out work to the damaged culvert in Sun Street as soon as it is possible within their budget priorities – ‘Call for action to end flooding’ (February 6).

I am in receipt of an e-mail from the council stating that work to repair the drainage and gulley is due to take place in the next six to eight weeks. I wondered if this was another example of the left hand not knowing what the right is doing. I have now been informed the work will start in two days, so as you read this, the work will have hopefully started. Let’s hope this is not another temporary repair.
