Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Haworth is organising a parish meal at Chaplin’s on Sunday, February 23 at 12.30pm. The cost is £14.50 for a three-course meal. Those interested are asked to add their names to the list at the back of the church.

Keighley Community Transport will be putting on a shoppers’ bus service aimed at elderly and disabled peopletel. This will serve the villages of Haworth, Stanbury, Oxenhope and Leeming to the Keighley supermarkets for a trial period. It will pick up and drop off by arrangement. The Haworth, Oxenhope, Lees & Crossroads Gardeners & Allotment Associations 96th annual flower, vegetable and produce show will be held on Sunday, August 17, at Haworth Community Centre, Butt Lane. The next meeting of the Haworth and Oxenhope District Bridleways Group will be on Tuesday at 8pm, preceded by a junior meeting at 6.45pm. The speaker will be Bex Matteo on Simple Systems (feeding). This week the Worth Valley Young Farmers’ Club went ice skating to Bradford. It was the first time on the ice for a few members and by the end of the night there were a few sore bums. For further information about the club, visit worthvalley.org.

A Valentine’s Day Irish ceilidh will take place in aid of The Massabielle Group who take local people to Lourdes in May. This takes place at Branshaw Golf Club on Saturday from 8-11.30pm. Tickets cost £5.

The Haworth Cinema will have a special showing of the 2011 film Jane Eyre to celebrate St Valentine’s Day from 7.30-10pm on Friday at West Lane Baptist Church.

Haworth Craft Fairs will be held at The Old School Rooms at Haworth Parish Church Hall from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday. There will be hand-made gifts, jewellery, toys, chocolates, fudge, truffles, soaps, cushions, throws and handbags.

Haworth and Worth Valley Rotary Club meets at the Old Silent Inn, Stanbury, for a meal every Tuesday at 7.30pm for 8pm (but not Tuesdays following a bank holiday). Usually they have a guest speaker. Recently they have been running a “contact the elderly” project. This is to invite the elderly to afternoon teas once a month on a Sunday afternoon. The organiser, Hilary Wharton, (01535) 647531 is seeking some volunteer drivers to help. They would only be required three or four times a year to drive mainly in the Haworth area.
