Tickets are now on sale for an awards ceremony at which an Oakworth farmer will be in the running for an accolade.

Prizes in the scheme, run by Keighley News’ sister publication Northern Farmer, are being presented at Harrogate Pavilions on the evening of March 6.

The glittering event will include a three-course meal.

The awards, the first of their kind launched by Northern Farmer, are in recognition of best farming practices.

A high-powered panel of judges sifted through more than 60 nominations and drew-up three-strong shortlists in each of ten categories.

Among the finalists is Jonathan Sharp, of Tewitt Hall Farm, who is shortlisted in the green farmer of the year section.

Initiatives at his farm have included tree planting, the creation of ponds and the installation of a wind turbine.

Tickets for the awards ceremony are £30, including a reception drink and the meal. E-mail jennifer.brown@nne.co.uk or call (01325) 505282.
