Re the letter by Mark Curtis – Our elected councillors need support, not unhelpful criticism (Keighley News, February 13).
Does Mr Curtis really think voting for a project that was never going to work, running up more than one million pounds worth of debt in loans plus a large growing deficit is doing an excellent job in difficult times?
Sorry Mr Curtis, whatever boasts some councillors make, and however much they try to mask the ongoing debt and deficit to the people of Keighley, does not erase the fact Keighley people gain little in comparison to the money they pay in precepts now being eaten up by this civic centre, which again is of little benefit to most families.
Selling this liability, being open and transparent, would be of far more benefit to the people. Then the council might be free to do this excellent job in Keighley Mr Curtis refers to.
Coun Ron Beale Ridgemount Road, Riddlesden
